Director and friend Joyce A. Nashawati asked us to imagine a poster of a movie she has not yet shot! A first and exciting experience for us and a great challenge as we had no material to work on this. Can’t wait to see that flick!
AFRICA MIA is the fabulous tale of THE MARAVILLAS DE MALI.
In 1963 ten musicians from Mali were sent to Habana to learn music and become teachers when back in their country. Eventually they made a record and
became huge stars, first in their country of adoption and then in the whole world. All ended suddenly five years later when a putsch puts army man Moussa Traoré at the direction of the country.
4O years later director Richard Minier, fascinated by this story, tries to find all the protagonists of this adventure.
One of the many musical entities the French collective Simple Music Experience sent to earth to vociferate electronic incantations, Radiante Pourpre is the name of a duo comprised of Alex and Leopold as well as the name of their 2017 debut album on Antinote. Expect post-exotic world (NO ZONE) , battered radio transmitters (TAKATO), analog glitters (INTERLUDE), cries of ominous seagulls (SMALL TALK) and a bewitching Spanish voice (MALA 800). And then… a Balearic hit for post-apocalyptic times (IEMANJA)! and a sunny spell lurking in the spirited closing tune (MS BUTTERFLY): “NO BORDERS, NO COPS, NO PROBLEMS”.
Is another EP from D.K. about to land on Antinote while the first one has been announced only a month ago? Well, this looks very much like a series and – spoiler alert – Riding For A Fall EP is the second installment in a trilogy.
To be continued…
Curated by Trevor Jackson, Rpm Rip is a 6 iconic record stores closed / 6 cities / 6 designers. Ltd edition of 50. Made by AIAIAI. Profites goes to the Rpm foundation.
We have chosen a shop called SALINAS in Montmartre where we used to go and have a friend who used to work there. Something that have resonance for us in that period where we discovered raves and the Trance scene in particular…The shop opened rue Veron in 1993 and then moved a bit further in 1995 rue des Trois frères until its closure in 1999. Guillaume la Tortue was its emblematic figure.
For Spring/Summer 2019, with the collaboration of Ewin Europe, we have created the series "NO VACANCY", an evocation of a vanished civilisation, ours. The classic motel signage applied to Western world.
"It is a collapsed and destitute world where only the marks of a selfish dream and the ridiculous protections that have been erected, subsist to prevent the other from accessing it (The "FFFLOATING LAND", "NOTHING TO COME"). "THE MIGRANT" is this totemic character to whom we denied all sharing."
NO VACANCY announces the motel
NO VACANCY claims the unavailable heart
NO VACANCY says the country which refuses to open
Entirely developed, decadent world abandoned by water.
Only derisory structures remain that men once erected
Protect themselves against their fellow men.

It’s easy to fall for a nostalgic approach to dance music, to cuddle oneself in the warm analogue sounds of late 1980’s dance productions – especially with the heavy ongoing reissue trend going on. However, we have to stay focus: look out for contemporary sounds and means of production. Parisian producer Nathan Melja makes his debut on Antinote with an idiosyncratic three-tracker and our guess is that it sounds contemporary.
It’s Nathan Melja’s first release on Antinote, but he’s definitely not a newcomer. He’s been around since Antinote exists, and we’re glad to finally collaborate with him.
4 tracks, 2 bangers: D.K. starts a new season in the Antinote league with a 12” 100% dedicated to the dancefloor. There’s a perfume of jungle (not the genre, the one from Donkey Kong Country, in case someone has still not made the connection between Nintendo’s #1 gorilla and the French producer) emanating from the whole record. The Parisian producer has also been taking a peep on some early 1990’s rave records (but who isn’t at the moment?), as demonstrated by the two first songs, Mystic Warrior and perhaps even more flagrantly Elements – with its emotional pads and sad mock Jon Hassel-like trumpets.
Worries In The Dance, and Earth People are more of a warm up business – so to speak, in the language of the club. D.K. takes a step back, BPM-wise, only to allow a deeper exploration of the surroundings – namely shamans with bamboo flutes circling around you, monks meditating under a cascade, others ringing a prayer bell – that have more to do with Age Of Empire or any 1990’s adventure game set in a fantasized Asia than anything that actually exists IRL (probably a distinctive signature of the French producer). Anyway, there’s a Bruce Lee sticker on the sleeve that says it all, in a much more concise way.
Remember that straightforward mix of EBM and synth-punk that came out on Antinote last year, wrapped in a suggestive black and gold sleeve? The lyrics were strictly not ambiguous and the music produced by Panoptique and Paula was joyfully aggressive. Broken glass, dogs barking & cats roaring: Succhiamo is back and gives us news from the scrapyard.
The famous London based zine “Left Alone” made an interview of us in their second issue. No need to say we were honored when they asked us to make this red poster included in the zine.
New poster for Quentin Dupieux’s new flick, an hilarious and uncommon comedy with references to french popular cinema from the late seventies. The poster does nothing different and mimics artworks from that time. Enjoy!
RIAM Festival for unlimited Art and Music comisionned us to do the 2018 edition design. The festival is set up in the beautiful city of Marseille, Mars as called by its inhabitants. The experimental lineup does not appear on the poster and is replaced by x names…
With this debut EP, the Ozzie producer succeeds in rounding up disparate & dubious elements together in a serious way without departing from a non-serious attitude - the record even rounds off with a very “put your hands in the air” moment with Space Gekko’s ravey sirens. “Music to party on the River Yarra to” (just Google it).
Magnificent, candid and endearing, Diamantino is the global icon of football, a flamboyant hero touched by grace. When suddenly, in World Cup, his genius flies in the pink vapors of his magic visions, his career is stopped. Problem is that he knows nothing else. The fallen star, now the object of national ridicule, discovers the world - the others. Here he is embarked on many adventures that mutate in odyssey: family conspiracy (his two sisters only want his fortune), genetic manipulation delirious, refugee crisis, conspiracy of the extreme right ... And in the midst of this tragedy, where his cat seems to be his last supporter, yet, arises Love. The truth. It was written.
The 12” you’re about to read a few lines about is a lconic introduction to the music of an elusive new musician on Antinote. Biographical details about him would probably not help comprehend his music and might even seem slightly contradictory with the music itself, as Reigi / Haipa has been produced in Reims – at least, it would have been much more accommodating if the capital of Champagne was located somewhere in-between Sheffield and London... ATN041 Out on Antinote.
We have recorded this tape at the SynthCityStudio in Paris the 30th of March 2018. We did this to celebrate our collaboration with Edwin. Expect some weird experimental, ambient, spoken, avant garde & contemporary jazz. Out in 2019.
Here's another release on Antinote.
Released under the moniker Sign Libra, Closer to the Equator is the work of Latvian artist and composer Agata Melnikova. Composed for a contemporary ballet at Latvian National Opera in Riga, the music on this record strongly relies on Melnikova’s appreciation of BBC-produced nature documentaries. Projecting the life of each creature that inhabits the British TV-program into her very personal and highly synthetized world, Sign Libra lends these microscopic beings her own voice. Each song works like a musical “tableau” in which the main protagonists – plants and animals – come on stage to play their part in a ballet carefully choreographed by the Latvian artist.
Sign Libra’s mental and musical incarnations of the microcosm of the rainforest have something to do with Software’s album populated by exotic insects and crawling plants, a “Carnaval des Animaux” released on Sky by a MIDI-addicted Hector Berlioz. These microscopic beings incarnate themselves in resonated melodies that echo through a technicolour rainforest, while winds blow through holographic ferns, vines and palms.
Closer To The Equator synthesizes visions panning treetops as the sun’s rays pierce through clouds nearby. Sign Libra takes you into a harmonic world that shines brightly wherever you stand, and offers a genuine synesthetic experience.
Ebenezer grew up in Tottenham, one of London’s tougher areas.
What those streets lack in money, however, they make up for in community – just ask Skepta, JME, or any other artist that has risen out of Tottenham. Ebenezer grew up in London, and it’s those close-knit avenues that supplied the rising artist’s love of music.
Rising to work with Craig David, Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign and Rejjie Snow, it seems that his talents are set to break through any obstacle placed in his path.
Here are the singles Survival, Ask Around Fuck It & Bad Romantic.
18 RAYS is a band, composed of Nico Motte, Raphael Top Secret and Zaltan. Coming soon on Antinote.
A Girl Is A Gun is a wonderful soundtrack by Sebastien Tellier for a special Z tv show. 10 blasting episodes where girls are killing it! With Denise Richards! Record Maker will print 200 tapes. Don't sleep on this one!
Born in a cave in Bordeaux, Radiante Pourpre is one of the many children of Simple Music Experience, a collective and label floating somewherebetween Marseille, Paris and Bordeaux and which inexorably attracted to itself many outsider experimentalists from the French electronic scene for the past few years. Antinote is now reissuing a long out-of-print tape that the duo recorded in 2014 in Brussels’ art space Komplot.
Back to the airbrushes!! A new release on Antinote Recordings by the amazing D.K. in the same vein we begun to develop with him a while ago now. Still the same pleasure. Still fuckin' good muisc.
The label is turning five, and it's celebrating with a 2xLP compilation of unreleased work from artists who have graced the label over the period !
Exclusives from Tolouse Low Trax, Geena, Iueke, Domenique Dumont, Inoue Shirabe, Raphael Top-Secret, Nico Motte and more...
The WE LOVE GREEN festival commissionned us for the second time after 2015 to do the image and the design of the whole communication of the event. We were delighted to discover they wanted to use an old proposition of a landscape we made in 2015. The 2017 adaptation figures rising psychedelic moons poping up from methan lakes, pink mountains or rainbow glacier. Our goal was to illustrate the assertion "we love green" in a personal way in a world where the necessity to raise awareness has become crucial. Under a yellow sky.
AVA is the first movie from new comer Léa Mysius with also new comer actress Noée Abita who simply breaks the screen. She plays a 13 years old teen who learns she will soon be blind while she discovers love. Beautiful.
No need to say we were pleased to work on this project which aimes to gather a wide spectrum of tracks from pre zouk era in the french West Indies. Original, magnetic and highly danceable.
New name on Antinote, all the way from Tel-Aviv !
Bass clarinet, children choirs and some dub vibes...
Very pleased to participate to this collective show Entercourse Of The New Age. A project about never existing cover vinyl design regarding electronic music released in the 80's and the 90's. We have reinterpreted the classic and beautiful 1992 "Trust" EP by talented Mark Goddard on the obscure Funky groove Records on 60X60 cm silkscreen.
Upcoming 12" on Antinote featuring Panoptique & JC Satan's Paula on vocals.
REDBULL asked us to design the poster of this skate documentary about the famous bowl of Marseille. A legend brilliantly telled featurring other legends such as Tony Alva or Tony Hawk. Old school.
For the 30th release of our beloved label ANTINOTE Kreidler's Detlef Weinrich (a.k.a Tolouse Low Trax) digs back into his solo archives and furnishes a series worth of unreleased jams. His hypnotic minimalist dance-not-dance tracks do not only illuminate so-called freaks!
A swimming pool filled with molly by the Antinote's candyman. Balearically-named ambient tunes and psychedelic house bangers. PEACE.
The legendary library music french label TELEMUSIC has sorted a collection of three vinyls composed by modern reinterpretations. Contemporary composers selected by Alexis Le-Tan made theirs some of the most eminent classics from the label. Play it loud.
A new artist on ANTINOTE. Never taking itself too seriously "Altitude Attitudes" by Mind Lotion always stays sophisticated and is like a mental voyage taking us back to Umiliani’s vision of Polynesia or Africa. Squeeze the mind lotion.
We designed the poster for this romanian movie revealed in the Un Certain Regard selection of the 69th Cannes Film Festival. With this highly accomplished blend of film noir and modern western, Bogdan Mirica slows the pace and capitalise on the power of suggestion provided by the natural settings. A must see with an alternative western poster!
A minimalist artwork for this haunted second release on ANTINOTE by Leonardo Martelli after "Menti Singole". "Previsto" pursues his explorations of post-Detroit electro, granular textures and smokey deep house cuts.
Debut 12" from Raphael Top Secret & Nelson Bishop. Summery club cuts, and a ghostly reggae tune on the B-side.
"After releasing a beautiful debut 12” last year on Antinote, the man behind the visual identity of the Parisian imprint makes an impressive come-back on the label’s catalogue with Life Goes On If You Are Lucky. While listening to it for the first time, we can already imagine the long nightly conversations held between Nico Motte and his machines that gave birth to this album – the man trying to learn from the machines their most secret sounds. TIP!"
Director Joyce A. Nashwati asked us personnaly to create a poster for her first flick. This Greece-set minimalist thriller follows an immigrant house sitter trying to keep cool during one long, hot, endless summer, while facing a variety of threats both real and illusory.
Cosmo is back!! After a five year hiatus during which he was kept busy by his band Bot'Ox and relocating from Paris to Berlin, this is the very first release to come out of his new studio located in Berlin's Marzahn district.
Another movie poster from our studio. French director Emmanuel Finkiel rises with Nicolas Duvauchelle giving an astonishing performance in a role perfectly fit for him. A must see.
For the our second time working for french festival "Les Nuits Secrètes" we decided to create this floral pattern cutting shapes in pure color as our old and admired masters used to do. A kind of hommage during a secret night.
We don’t know much about Domenique Dumont and it might be better like that for it leaves more room for the music.
Comme Ça is a set of 6 carefully crafted miniatures. A genuine feeling of melancholia exudes from every track, from the club-friendly La Basse et les Shakers to the ethereal Le Château de Corail. Dreamy music for warm summer nights.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover” they say, well, this saying applies to Stéphane Laporte’s Fourrure Sounds Vol.2, for nothing solar lies behind the glorious sunset on the cover of his second album for Parisian imprint, Antinote. While Fourrure Sound Vol.1 recalled an era of naïve electronic experimentations recorded to soundtrack TV documentaries, Vol.2 resurrects 1990’s 12-hour-long rave parties. For the occasion, Stéphane Laporte changed the name of his godfathers from François De Roubaix and Jean-Jacques Perrey to Conrad Schnitzler and I-F.
We made this Flyer for our dear friend Alexis Le-Tan. An all night trance dance ritual in Salon Des Amateurs in Dusseldorf.
We have been commissioned amongst others graphic designers to make a poster for the Fête du Graphisme 2016 by the Mairie de Paris. The posters celebrating the the city are displayed everywhere in Paris.
Third opus from the prolific Dang Khoa Chau. Third time working with airbrush for our guy, making this Island of dreams a pre-neo-post-internet artwork!
"Une Jeunesse Allemande" is a French documentary directed by Jean-Gabriel Periot released in cinemas in 2015 . This is the first feature film of the director .
Zvizdan is a croatian movie which is no ordinary story of boy-meets-girl. Two young people fall in love, but they come from neighbouring villages, divided by different religions and different ethnicities. The people around them disapprove strongly and are dead-set against their relationship – it is difficult to overcome a deep-rooted hatred. The story is told in three parts, each taking place at a ten-year interval, from the early 1990s to the present.
Antinote is offering us a full length from delightful oddball duo Syracuse. Like those previous releases, Liquid Silver Dream is nothing short of delightful as Syracuse dip into deep house not deep house on "L'Eau Des Songes" (complete with an awesome farfisa organ), dreamy broken beat ( "On Desert Oceans") and slow burning pop nuggets. "Love" and "Le Coeur En Naufrage" both stand out, being as sultry as they are melancholic in a way only the French can do. The ten minute long epic that is the title track is an amazing slice of high tech soul that'd make even Space Dimension Controller stand up and notice.
This was such a pleasure to work on!
Roman Coppola's film, about a successful graphic designer and ladies' man in the 70's, Charles Swan III (played by Charlie Sheen), whose breakup with his girlfriend and throws his life into a tailspin. Co-starring Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, booze, drugs, women, and graphic design. What more could we want?
D.K. is a master of House music.
For his artwork we decided to work with a tool we'd never used before, one that reminds us of the golden era that his music evokes : the airbrush. That was really fun. And for the second record, Love on Delivery, we added watercolor! New dimensions.
Could anyone have imagined that the artist behind Nico Motte and the Rheologia EP was our very own Nicolas Motte? After collecting analog synthetizers and toying with them for years, Nico finally made a record.
Limited to 500 vinyl copies, sold out.
Antinote is an independant, techno oriented music label founded by Quentin Vandewalle (aka Zaltan), along with Gwen Jamois (aka Iueke) and Nicolas Motte of Check Morris, in Paris in 2012.
With the art direction, our goal is to create a range of artwork genres using a DIY approach, mixed with strong anachronistic references and attitudes.
We Love commissioned us to revisit famous artwork from the sublime Jazz label, Blue Note.
We chose to reconstruct the originals, adding papercuts, and aerosol magic-milky-way paint that illuminates even the darkest backgrounds.
Watercolors from the equally magical and talented Yu Matsuoka completed our work
Hoping that a global apocalypse is on the horizon, best friends spend their free time building imaginative weapons of mass destruction.
Muscle cars, love, betrayal, flame throwers and the end of days are excellent ingredients for a film. French version of the poster for UFO Distribution.
Check out the forthcoming vinyl edition of the soundtrack.
Shirabe puts an end to the summer break for Antinote, with his new E.P. on the Parisian imprint. TIP!
On the A side, Down Into The Black Church offers us a last late-night dip in the pool before summer ends. Inoue Shirabe jams with his machines, extensively rotating knobs to create a deep bath of synth waves where bleeping
sounds meet aquatic percussions. The best think to do is probably to let yourself dive into this hypnotic sea of oscillators, and dance – driven by a thumping kick and slow hi-hats – at 96 Beats Per Minute.
For those seeking darker territories, just turn the record over. On Camping In Your Soul, the Okayama’s producer blends smashing claps and a raw bassline with cosmic synths; and the result somehow evokes an impossible meeting between Dieter Moebius and Unit Moebius.
Tomas Palermo (XLR8R)
"A new style of spacey beats–at once retro and very future!"
Recent vynil realease on I'm A Cliché.
UFO PRODUCTION asked us to work on this stunning documentary by Julien Faraut focusing on John McEnroe during the French Open in 1984. This is something you can't refuse. We made the whole art direction for the numerous inner titles and the credits of this must-see.
